Buckingham Palace has taken note of the good work done by the Leaside Garden Society.

Congratulatory greetings from Her Majesty the Queen, along with messages from Governor General David Johnston, Justin Trudeau, Premier Kathleen Wynne, and Mayor John Tory are now on display in the Leaside Library where the Society holds it monthly meetings.

The Society is celebrating 30 years of beautifying our neighbourhood and has much to be proud of! LGS plants and maintains several gardens in the community, in some cases with the enthusiastic help of Grade 3 classes from local schools. Each year there is a roster of fascinating speakers with topics ranging from vegetable gardening to pruning trees. Not to be missed are the flower shows, a plant sale and a garden tour.

As you are walking around the neighbourhood, take notice of the “Gardens of Distinction” that were recently recognized by the Leaside Garden Society. This year eight front gardens received awards that are a tribute to the loving care that Leasiders provide in creating interesting, beautiful, and welcoming gardens for all to enjoy. You can spot the gardens by the sign in front of each one. Among this year’s winners are 98 Parklea Dr., 33 Heather Rd., 87 Airdrie Rd., 11 Divadale Dr., 559 Broadway Ave., and 6 Fairland Rd. We encourage everyone to have a look, enjoy and be inspired!
