Leaside’s Gabby Smith, the 15-year-old student who went to New Zealand early in December to play for the under-18 national team in a showdown with Australia, was named the MVP.
She scored six goals in four games. New Zealand won three games and tied one in the best of five series. Smith is a New Zealand citizen because her father was born there.
