In Brief

The last vestiges of the old service station known as Bill and Vito’s will probably be gone soon. An application to build six townhouses and two detached homes at the corner of McRae and Sutherland has been submitted to city planning. Bill and Vito, now dead, were two World War 11 veterans who started the station and became a place for generations of families to walk to and chat with the owners.

A child care centre will replace the old Leaside town hall, probably next fall after ABC Academy Child Care completes the purchase of the building on McRae at Randolph. The company already has a site on Bayview at Balliol.
