It’s likely the highest price ever paid for a house in Leaside. Nick Kyprios’ home at 33 Heather has been sold. Although the final amount is a well-guarded secret, the list price was $3,295 million (and it didn’t stay on the market long!) The owner is expected to move there in August.
We know there are knitters in Leaside (like the Kilgour Group in North Leaside), so here’s your chance to make yourselves known! The local chapter of the Needlework Guild would like to recruit new members to share tips, resources and contribute. A 121-year-old charity, the Guild donates what members create to 21 charities across the GTA. Neighbours may remember Rupert, a North Leaside puppy fostered by the Sheedy family as a “guide dog in training” from Dog Guides of Canada. This March, Rupert graduated to his new life in “special skills”. Rupert, as well as the Sheedy’s new puppies, were recently seen on the Rick Mercer show. “You can watch the segment on YouTube,” advises 15-year-old Christopher Sheedy, obviously very proud of the dogs, “You’ll see our current puppies as well as Rupert.”

A Leaside favourite for her talent and 80 plus years of energy, Ella Irving once again leads a flower arranging workshop at Trace Manes on April 6 using tulips and pussy willows. It’s all part of getting ready for spring at the Leaside Garden Club.

Lots of local talent, a stellar band, soloists and local musician/musical director Virginia Evoy are bringing Cabaret Oliver! to Leaside on Saturday, April 20 at Leaside United Church. It’s sponsored by Robert Lowrey, a musician himself and long time local business owner in the neighbourhood.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony opened Booster Juice on Laird in March complete with Toronto Argonaut cheerleaders. According to manager Sungjai Youn, the Edmonton-based company is known for its commitment to community involvement and social responsibility.
