JEFFREY CRANE had a special welcome his first day as principal, four years ago, at Rolph Road. Premier Dalton McGuinty visited for his annual back to school photo op. And Crane has a special connection to Leaside too: Both he and his parents, 30 years earlier, were married in Leaside United Church. He has a degree in Early Childhood Education and was a southpaw pitcher for Toronto all-star rep teams.
ANNE JOHNSTON would have been considered a newcomer to Leaside when she became principal of Bennington Heights in January 2012. But she considers Leaside her home away from home the last 20 years because she has been bringing her four children to the Bayview Family Practice. She has taught kindergarten to grade 8, including phys ed, and attended high school at nearby North Toronto Collegiate.
SARAH FROST has spent most of her teaching and principalling experience outside Leaside, but she’s no stranger. At one point she lived on Sutherland Dr. and she still frequents Bayview, especially enjoying a stop at Rosie’s Kitchen. She became principal of Bessborough this school year after years in that job in Scarborough. She has taught French, grades 3-8, special education and French immersion.
KATHY RIBEIRO is a full-fledged Leasider who graduated from Leaside High and as a mother of two sons still lives in the neighbourhood. She has been in education for 27 years, as a teacher and leader at all levels from kindergarten to grade 12 and the last 14 years as an administrator. As principal at Northlea for four years she emphasizes a combination of athletics, arts and academics.
