Collage Designs wins award

The recipient for the Leaside Garden Society Community Garden Award this year was Collage Designs, located on Bayview at Parkhurst.

Each year since 1993 LGS has presented an award to a local company, business or organization that has made a significant effort to beautify the community with landscaping and/or plantings.  In the past we have presented the award to such diverse organizations as a storage facility, a construction company, a senior’s residence, a mosque and a bakery.

The delightful front entrance of Collage Designs was the clear winner when the board voted at its September meeting.

East York address a problem

Lorna, you may favour the name “East York” as an address (Lorna Krawchuk, The many places you find our name, Oct. issue) but it has a real downside if one is a member of an international organization, or even a national one.

I am a member of both British and American civil engineering organizations. When using the East York address, I found that I was not listed among the Toronto members in their year books, so not included in Toronto meeting notices, a distinct disadvantage, especially when I live so close to City Hall!  Since making this discovery, I have strenuously avoided any use of “East York”.
